November 14th, 2009, 17:26 Posted By: wraggsterA new news update from the Openpandora Team: Finally, we got some first pictures of moulded parts of the case! And they look beautiful, much better than the FDM cases... As you can see, we decided for some classic light black plastic. Not the currently so popular shining "I love to have tons of fingerprinting on me"-one. I hope you do like it - we definately do! You can also see some pictures of the mould and the injection process here. ALL moulds have been finished by now - except for the upper part of the base: The most complicated one. That's almost finished (it might already be finished by the time I write this blog), they're just fixing some stuff to make it fit perfectly. But that should (hopefully) been done in at least 5 days, and then basically mass production could start. With the boards currently being mass produced, the next step would be assembly... geeez The OS is also coming along quite nicely. Automatic PND-Discovery and PXML support is working perfectly, as can be seen in this little video done by skeezix (sorry for the low quality, devs usually don't have professional video cameras. As soon as cpasjuste's GUI is included, I'll make a hires video showing a nearly completed stage of the OS). The video shows how the icons of the apps appear on the Desktop when you insert an SD Card and how they disappear as soon as you remove them. The only thing that needs to be done to make the OS ready for a first release is to include cpasjustes GUI and add a First Boot Wizard which helps you to easily setup your Pandora. And that's what we're currently working on. http://www.openpandora.org/index.php...emid=2&lang=en
