"Sure, we've seen some blurry videos and managed a few stolen glimpses when Andy Rubin demonstrated this beast, but now we've gotten our hands on a slew of pictures showing off a very real T-Mobile-branded Dream in all its Android-running glory. Not only does this confirm the design spied in those FCC docs as well as show off that nearly-done version of Android, but it seems to confirm the fact that this will be headed to T-Mobile, and sooner rather than later judging from the looks of the above device."
Will Android be a real compeditor to Windows Mobile? A lot of people are hoping so, but I'm reserving judgment until I see it in action myself. It looks like there's a lot to like, but building a mobile operating system isn't a a cakewalk and until seeing Google's new Chrome browser, I had very little faith in Google's ability to develop desktop software. I do like the look of the user interface above - looks quite Mac-like, and that's not a bad thing on a mobile device.

New for pocket pc
uTrack can be used to track mobile devices in a passive, non-intruisive way.
It can be configured to publish the location of a Windows Mobile powered device to any website or webservice. The only requirement is that HTTP GET request can be used.
The different items of information that can be published are:
- Longitude / Latitude
- DeviceID
- Date and time
When run, the application only shows a notifyicon and stays dormant until another application uses the GPS Intermediate driver. - When the GPS device gets a fix on the position, uTrack will publish this information to the URL specified in the configuration window.
uTrack features:
- A lightweight Windows Mobile client whose sole purpose is to monitor and publish GPS coordinates.
- Four different parameters can be used in the GET request: Longitude, Latitude, Date/Time and the deviceID.
- The request can be tested using a easy to use option which opens the configured URL in the default browser.
- A non-intrusive notify-icon to indicate GPS monitoring is active.
- Both support for Windows Mobile 5 and Windows Mobile 6 powered devices.
- Auto start monitoring on device reset.
- GPS Intermediate Driver support.

An interesting pandora article from CVG
A new portable dubbed "by far the most powerful handheld in the world" has been confirmed for a 2008 release in UK by its makers.
The new 'Pandora' handheld, which has the fast-growing homebrew scene teeming with excitement, will cost £199 and will be available in UK in time for Christmas. Pre-orders will open on September 30.
Pandora was built to be "the ultimate open source handheld device" and a huge step up from the homebrew-focused GP2X consoles.
It's pretty beefy, too, with a 600+ MHz CPU and OpenGL 2.0 3D graphics hardware, along with a 800x480 resolution screen, Wifi, Bluetooth, and more connectors and memory stick ports than you need. Oh, plus twin analogue controls and a full keyboard.
All that on a console "roughly" the size of a DS, it says on the official site.
It won't share the commercial success of DS or PSP (not even close), but will go head-to-head with the latest GP2X console, the far more attractive 'Wiz', also out this year.

To be fair, Microsoft hasn't come out and said that their goal is to have Windows 7 boot in 15 seconds. But they have said this:
For Windows 7, a top goal is to significantly increase the number of systems that experience very good boot times. In the lab, a very good system is one that boots in under 15 seconds.
So it looks like 15 seconds may be an internal goal that Microsoft knows better than to announce just yet—for decent systems, at least.

The guys at pocketgamer did a great interview with craig about the pandora console:
So how powerful will the Pandora be?
It is, without doubt, the most powerful portable games system ever and at the time of writing the most powerful mini computer, too. It has openGL 2.0 3D hardware, a 600-900Mhz CPU, media coprocessors, an 800x480 LCD and 128MB of RAM. The killer app with the hardware is that it is using an ARM Cortex A8 CPU, meaning astonishing battery life – over ten hours – which blows away similar mini PCs based on the old x86 chipsets. You will be able to play games like Quake III with ease and at the cutting edge even Doom III (if the engine goes open source soon, of course).
In terms of emulation, what kind of performance can we expect from the machine – what is the most advanced console/computer it can emulate at this stage, for instance?
Good PC emulation, most 32-bit consoles, Amiga 1200+ and all the usual suspects. Emulating something like the Sega Dreamcast would be pushing the hardware to the limits.
Aside from emulation and gaming in general, presumably you're envisaging other uses for the Pandora?
A complete desktop environment is already up and running – Ubuntu will run on the Pandora. This really is a PC the size of a Nintendo DS.
Do you think the machine could be a potential rival to the numerous 'Netbook' mini-laptops that are flooding the market at the moment?
Yes, and it has the advantage of a sensational battery life. We will be pushing to over take those other devices in 2009 in terms of functionality. After all, how many of them have complete game controls, a keyboard and an active programming community of tens of thousands of people?
When can we expect to see units on sale and can you confirm the price point for the UK?
They will be shipping before Christmas and the price in the UK is £199.99 (inc VAT) which is way under the cost and way over the specs of similar 'Mini PCs' which are mostly running a sluggish Windows Vista.
When will people be able to place pre-orders for the Pandora and what kind of numbers are you producing the unit in to begin with?
At the end of September via http://openpandora.org. The first production run is 3000 units which we hope will sell out before they ship.

The ScummVM Team has released a new version of ScummVM for tons of consoles and Operating Systems,
Heres the release details:
We can call it a tremendous development. Half a year since 0.11.1 passed pretty quickly, and we are pleased to announce the release of 0.12.0!
This new version of ScummVM adds support for 5 completely new games. The games that now run smoothly on many more platforms than was initially intended are: The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Two: Hand of Fate, The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge, Lost in Time, The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble and Drascula: The Vampire Strikes Back.
The number of supported platforms grew as well. The PS2 port has been revived, and the GameCube and Wii are now supported too. Take your Wiimote and make your beloved adventure game protagonist run around the screen .
For those new to ScummVM heres a description:
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. You can find a thorough list with details on which games are supported and how well on the compatibility page. ScummVM is continually improving, so check back often.
Heres the release notes:

- Added support for The Legend of Kyrandia: Book Three: Malcolm's Revenge.

- Added support for the PC version of Waxworks.

- Revived the PS2 port (was already in 0.11.1 but was forgotten in the
release notes).
- Plugged numerous memory leaks in all engines (part of GSoC'08 task),
- Added audio double buffering to the SDL backend, which fixes the
problems with the MT-32 emulator on Mac OS X (for now only enabled
on Mac OS X).
AGOS:
- Fixed crashes during certain music in Amiga versions of Elvira 1 and
Simon the Sorcerer 1.
- Fixed palette issues in Amiga versions of Simon the Sorcerer 1.

Although S2U2 is now reached v1.21, it doesn't mean it can run perfectly on your device. Thanks to different devices produced by different vendors. So, please test it before use it everyday, especially the CallerID function.
What is S2U2?
S2U2 (Slide2Unlock2) is a simple lock/unlock application which has the iPhone style slide unlocking. It can be used as a screensaver while you don't use your device. And it's has a CallerID function (but some devices may not work, so please try it first); S2P control plugin; and volume control.

"There are files from all kinds of sources that we want to store and manage. Files are created by our digital cameras, e-mail, cell phones, portable media players, camcorders, PDAs, and laptops. Increasingly, computer users are using different folders, drives, and even different computers (such as a laptop and a desktop) to store, manage, retrieve and view files. Yet managing hundreds or thousands of files is still largely a manual operation. In some cases it is necessary to regularly get copies of files from another location to add to primary location; in other cases there is a need to keep two storage locations exactly in sync. Some users manage files manually, dragging and dropping from one place to another and keeping track of whether the locations are synchronized in their heads. Other users may use two or more applications to provide this functionality. Now there is an easier way. SyncToy, a free PowerToy for Microsoft Windows, is an easy to use, highly customizable program that helps users to do the heavy lifting involved with the copying, moving, and synchronization of different directories. Most common operations can be performed with just a few clicks of the mouse, and additional customization is available without additional complexity. SyncToy can manage multiple sets of folders at the same time; it can combine files from two folders in one case, and mimic renames and deletes in another case. Unlike other applications, SyncToy actually keeps track of renames to files and will make sure those changes get carried over to the synchronized folder."
