News from Evil Dragon:
Hiya!
Sorry for so little news during the last days, I did have very busy times.
I quit my job, so from April 1st, I've got more time for Pandora and my other job (which is TV commercial production).
However, this means I got more to do during the last week, as somebody needs to take on my old job.
Well, anyways, back to Pandora stuff. I received three new ribbon cables from Michael on last Monday but didn't have time until today to rebuild my Pandora devboard and put it into the case. But, it works now. So (except for the keymat I'm still missing), I also got working board in a case now.
I hope I'll find some time making a nice little HD video with Quake 3 and some other new emulator (you'll like it) during the next days.
You will also get to see a more finger-friendly matchbox-theme I designed.
Give me some time, though, still got a lot of work in real life.
Now, onto some other issue you already heard on the boards: The case.
You've seen it and you read it, it fits quite good (better than we expected) - but not PERFECT. There is SOME stuff to be fixed, but nothing that major.
We don't want to deliver a non-perfect case to you, though (and I'm sure you all agree), so we'll work on it for the next few days.
I'll also post the final keymap for you soon, so stay tuned - and thanks a lot for being so patient.

News from Craig:
Here is a quick and much requested video of the white Pandora which was built a few days ago. It is the first fully working, portable, near final unit. Still some things to tweak up which we are not happy with, but we are almost there now.
You can see use of the keyboard, the nubs, the dpad, the action buttons, the LEDs and the touchscreen.
The game is Quake@800*480 via the SGX (solid 60FPS with dynamic lighting), the OS is Linux (Angstrom). We will do a video with Quake3 soon.

News from Evildragon
I don't think I need a lot of words in this blog entry - I just posted a video (HD again) where I assembled a Pandora prototype case.
Two things are important:
1. I broke my flat ribbon cable, so I can't show the unit running (a new one is already on the way to my place).
2. The motherboard doesn't fit perfectly, as the final case is for MK3 and the board I have is MK2, we moved around some stuff.
Apart from that: Enjoy

News from Evil Dragon:
Well, all the errors of the case files have been fixed - and the final prototype cases are now in production!
They will be finished and shipped out on Friday, huzzah!
After that happened, we need to do stability and CE tests as quickly as possible, and if everything is fine, the moulds will be produced.
The production of the moulds will take about 30 - 35 days, however, once they are finished, the company can produce 50.000 units a day... should be enough for us. The good thing is, that the company that produces the moulds and the case is exactly the same company that made the prototype cases, so we won't have any file export errors this time.
The last pieces missing for the board productions have also been shipped and are on their way. This means that everything should be ready for the mass production of the boards. If everything goes well, we can start producing the boards shortly before the cases are finished so we can begin to ship early / middle of April!
Oh, I (EvilDragon) am at the Olymptronica this weekend - with Pandora devboard as well as with a WIZ prototype. So, if you want to come over and have a little chat or test some stuff on the prototypes, you're welcome. I hoped I could take the case with me, but as the show starts one day after the cases are finished, there's no chance getting one to me in time.

The ScummVM Team have released a new version of ScummVM for nearly every system released, heres the details and whats new etc:
Information about scummvm
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more.
Todays release news:
As we turned to a 6 months release cycle, here is our newest and best ScummVM version for you!
A couple of new engines were added, and besides 2 Humongous Entertainment titles, we now support The 7th Guest and Bud Tucker in Double Trouble.
Among other notable things there is a completely new vector-based GUI, which is a merged work of our last year GSoC student Vicent Marti, as well as a General Main Menu which adds a common save/load interface to most of our engines, adding the much awaited Return to Launcher feature along the way. It was the work of another successful student, Chris Page.
release notes
Notes:
0.13.0 (2009-02-28)
General:
- Added MIDI driver for Atari ST / FreeMint.
- Added a 'Load' button to the Launcher (not supported by all engines).
- Added a new global main menu (GMM) dialog usable from all engines.
- Added the ability to return to the launcher from running games (via the GMM).
- Rewrote GUI renderer to use an vector based approach.
- Rewrote GUI configuration to use XML.
New Games:
- Added support for Blue's 123 Time Activities.
- Added support for Blue's ABC Time Activities.
- Added support for Bud Tucker in Double Trouble.
- Added support for The 7th Guest.
KYRA:
- Added support for Auto-save feature.

News from Evil Dragon
Hi,
I told you, cpasjuste is currently working on a simple and clear launcher, using skeezix libpnd to work with PXML.
cpasjuste just posted a small sneak preview of the menu, you can see how PXML works (showing icons in categories, preview pictures, etc.).
skeezix libpnd is already pretty advanced. Together with vimacs, he made it possible for EVERY dev to easily use PXML and therefore, automatically add games and programs into the right categories as soon as you put an SD card into the slot!
We will show a video with that feature included into the matchbox UI as well soon!

Yep, AT&T is pulling its Quickfire Sidekick-wannabe off the shelves. That's because if you shove the charger in the wrong way, as some people have done, it, well, the punchline pretty much writes itself.
Here's the text message AT&T is sending out to people who own Quickfires to make sure they don't plug it all wrong and blow up their phone (though no explosions have happened quite yet).
Please take special care when charging your Quickfire GTX75 mobile phone. There have been a few reports of significant overheating of the phone when the AC Charger adapter is inserted incorrectly and forced into the phone.
The clearly marked, embossed arrow on the AC Charger adapter should always be face-up on the same side as the display screen of the Quickfire when it is inserted into the phone. See the diagram below for proper positioning and insertion of the AC Charger adapter into the phone. You should never force the AC Charger adapter into the phone.
If you have any questions, please call 1-800-801-1101.
Sincerely,
AT&T

HTC has confirmed that their touchscreen / QWERTY slider Touch Pro2 will be available in all major markets—including North America.
However, there isn't much as far as specific details are concerned. The exact date that it might arrive has not been determined (although they did note that launch should take place in Q2 ). Whether features like 3G compatibility will be added to the Pro2 for it's US debut also remains to be seen.

Evildragon posted this Video for Pandora:
Hi,
still waiting for the case, however, I got some news: According to the factory, it should be finished by next week, so there was a one week delay because of the chinese new year here. Could be better, but it could also be worse!
So, in the meantime, I injected MDaves theme into my Angström image of my Pandora devboard and can show you a nice video (HD ).
It shows, how easy it is to change the icon size to suit the menu to your needs.
As a little bonus I also ran some first version of ScummVM. Some seconds are missing though, as the video footage was broken for some reason.
Enjoy

The Pandora site has had a news update on whats left to do:
Hi,
as everybody is waiting, I thought I'd post some status informations. I'll keep them up-to-date here, so everybody knows what's happening
To-Do:
* Get the final CNCed case (still waiting...)
* Wait until the mould of the keymat is finished
* Design the final keyboard layout
* Create mould of final case (can be done once the case fits)
* CE / FCC testing (can be done once the case is here)
* Mass Production testrun for the final boards
* Stability testing (this will be fun)
* Wait for the last remaining pieces for mass production (LATEST deadline is second week of March)
* Mass Production
* Test the boards
* SHIP THEM!
Please keep in mind that it also takes some time to ship.
It won't help if the case if finished in China, it has to go to Michael and then to the CE / FCC testing company, etc.
Okay, some more info about the mass production:
We want to have a 48 burn-in test for the boards. The failure rate on the first boards depends on how many we'll test!
In worst case, we have to test ALL boards, which will take a month - don't worry however, as we can have weekly shipments of the already tested and working boards so the first guys who have ordered don't have to wait so long.
Let's cross our fingers and hope there won't be many problems from now on!
